Please note that Kouchner was kicked out of Médecins Sans Frontières already in 1979 and has since never had a role in the organisation. Furthermore, the present day identity of MSF was formed after his departure and its principles are very different from his. See more on
http://www.msf.fr/site/communiques.nsf/pages/cpALL22050772?OpenDocument&st=kouchner&tap=false

LK: Your point is well made and makes Kouchner's current behavior more plausible.

[The MSF website that Hans cites points out that Kouchner was just one of 12 doctors and journalists who founded the organization in 1971, a point which I added to my comment: thanks Hans! (Somehow, Kouchner seems to have walked away with the full public credit.) MSF says that he left the organization in 1979 in disagreement over its direction. MSF says that he wanted state humanitarian action that translated into "humanitarian intervention," while MSF wanted impartial humanitarian action independent of any political, economic or religious power.]
