At the Council on Foreign Relations today I heard Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney show how delusional and out of touch the political-corporate elite is with world events. Carney was governor of the Bank of Canada, then of the Bank of England. He bragged about cutting capital gains and income taxes, all boons to the very rich. But on to foreign policy, Gaza and Ukraine.  

Gaza: Canada has announced support for a Palestinian State. It was empty virtue signaling. Carney declared that “because of the acts of—these heinous acts of Hamas but then other in terms of response” that prospect is receding before our eyes. What! “Other” has a name, “genocide,” which Carney will not utter. International law recognizes the right of occupied people to fight their occupiers. “Heinous” is what Israel does.

Carney talked about western values. He said conditions for self-determination don’t exist. Translation: the people want Hamas. He said the Gazans have the right to self-determination EXCEPT if they vote for Hamas, which “must be disarmed and eliminated as a political force.” New definition of self-determination: “what we accept.” Something that armies of the West and Arab states will enforce on his proposed Palestinian colony. No mention of disarming the Israeli genocidaires.

Ukraine: Carney bragged of taking 300K Ukrainian refugees, more per capita than any other country. Probably effected by former Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland (who had a famous Nazi Ukrainian grandpa and is a pal of conman and fraudster Bill Browder) who Carney recently defenestrated, because she had her eye on his job.

Carney said he backs secondary sanctions of companies that do business with Russia “to force [Putin] to the table.” He is DELUSIONAL! It is clear that sanctions have had no effect and that Russia is winning the war. He declared that a security guarantee—”if the signature is Vladimir Putin’s—is not worth anything.” And the western-violated Minsk Accords which would have kept the Donbass in Ukraine? French President Hollande and German Chancellor Merkel admittedly signed (wink wink) only for time to arm Ukraine. He didn’t mention the Minsk Accords which showed that Western signatures were worth nothing.

On the other hand, Carney is a Deep State guy so his goal in spewing out such nonsense is probably to promote the Deep State line before an audience of corporates and think tankers (he noted that Robert Rubin was there), so they know what they should think.

Note: I was not allowed to ask Carney a question. The Council used to be a place of debate where different views were allowed. The previous president Richard Haas allowed them. Current president Richard Froman has shut down debate so my comments and questions to speakers are not allowed. They are allowed here, so follow this blog!
